Default exhaust idea, is it possible?

So im going to be redoing my exhaust within the next 2-3 weeks, but im not sure if my idea will work so i thought i'd get some input from you guys here. So here's what im working with, i have an 08 5.3 silverado that has short length headers and a flowmaster. I am waiting on my cutouts to get here so i can install my LT's with them. My idea is this, i want to get my headers on and right after them have my cut outs (one for each header) then i want my catalytic converters to go after the cutouts and after the cats it would go into the stock muffler. So pretty much my question is, is it possible to move the catalytic converters back so i can put my cutouts before them?

if your going completely custom then there shouldn't be a problem.. your just gonna have to extend your rear 02s if you still want to run them...

Definitely possible, you gonna have a hell of a y-pipe lol. I would tune out the rear o2 sensors.

wouldn't having the cats that far back - especially after LTs - make them pretty ineffective? i thought for them to work properly, they needed to be as close to the engine as possible to catch the gases while they're at their hottest temps

Nobody on here cares how effective they are as long as they pass inspection lol. Most people cut them off if they can, or gut the internals if they need to pass a visual test.

Yea i thought about just taking the cats off but i knew i would regret it once inspection time came around so im pretty sure im going to try to do it this way, and yes my y-pipe is going to be pretty loaded lol

yeah, i didn't know if he had sniffer tests at all or not. if it's just visual, go for it
the LTs i'm fixin to get just have cat-looking resonators in the y-pipe

What headers are you running?
Custom Y-pipe or one that comes with the headers?

If your going to run high flow cats you won't really gain any power by placing the cut outs in front of the cats vs behind.(just a little more rasp noise)

I had an idea of putting v-bands on the ends of my cutouts and v-bands on the ends of my cats....both equal lengths then you could just swap once a year for inspection...easy removal and install. either have cutouts in that location or converters

If you just want to pass the visual portion. But some 4" pipe and weld it over the outside of the 3" ypipe where the cats should go. That is what i did. Funny thing they actually look like cats but the sevre no purpose.
