Default Exhaust cutout questions

Hey guys, I see a few people running cut outs and have heard some soundclips of cammed trucks with cut outs so it's got me thinking about doing one.

But do they really free up power, or is it just for the sound? Where are you regular cab guys putting them? I don't see much room between the cat and the muffler where I could fit one in. And who makes a good cut out, like stainless so it will survive salty northeast winters.

Thanks guys.

I have mine 2.5" true dualed into a magnaflow x-pipe into flowtech cutouts and then 2 single chamber flowmasters with turndowns. It just eliminates your exhaust from going through your mufflers which makes it quite a bit louder. That is really the only place you can put them.
