Default Exhaust Cut Out Installation

I am looking to purchase an electric cutout for my exhaust but i have a couple of questions.

The stock cat back is 2.75 and you can only order cutouts in 2.5 and 3

Is it ok to just get the 3 inch and weld it without adapters? or do i need reducers on each end?

Has anyone else installed a cutout on the stock cat-back pipe?

I would buy a exhaust pipe stretcher and just stretch ur pipe to the 3" opening and then either clamp or weld . That way if there's a problem it's a lot easier to fix . So get the 3" and adapt the exhaust pipe. Here's a link to a cheap one from harbor frieght that will do the trick and its a little more than adapter fittings and extra clamps .
Large Tail Pipe Expander
Hope that helps

Would you not want to put the cutouts before the cats to get maximum gain? In this case they would need to go in the Y pipe between the manifolds and the cats, which I believe is 2.5" so problem solved. Except now you need two instead of one.

Buy the 3" cutout. Good luck using that cheap pipe expander from HF, I bought one and it wouldn't even enlarge mild steel tubing and broke into pieces.
