When I ordered my new ECSB Vortec Max, I could have ordered the (not sure what they called it) dual fuel option where it cold run on the E85 Ethanol fuel as well as gas and I chose not to bother with it. I'm thinkin now this was a mistake? If I were the type to trade my trucks every three years or so then I wouldn't be worried but I keep them around 10 to 12 years. I think ethanol (already an additive in some fuels) will be a popular substitute for dino gas in a few years. I don't like the idea of the DOD (displacement on demand) engines because of their complexity and the possibility of expensive out of warranty repairs so I ordered a 06 without the DOD (optional, in 06 and standard equip in 07) Now faced with the possibility of astronomical fuel cost I think I shoulda checked this one off on the order sheet? If I want the E85 ethanol fuel option I'll have to order another 06 truck before they tool up to build the 07's with DOD. Anybody out there have a 05 or 06 that has this option and can explain what the differences are between the gas only and the ethanol E85 (85% ethanol) engines??
