Default Escalade 6.0 vs HD 6.0 Why the HP Differences?

Anyone know why the Escalade claims more HP than a 6.0L in a HD?

Thanks

Differences in intake and exhaust plumbing I believe.

*edit* i dont know about different heads and cam, i just remember hearing that somewhere. But, i just looked at their site and it does have 10:1 compression, compared to the normal 6.0L's 9.4:1

Sounds about right. I don't know about the heads and cam though. Caddy needs the new HP rating to compete against the Navigator.

Jason, check the compression ratios between the two.

Caddy = 10:1
Truck = 9.4:1

Different pistons & more aggressive PCM tune from the factory. Everything else is the same.

Also, the Caddy might have a slightly different head (milled for more compression?), but don't quote me on that. I seem to remember reading something about LQ9 heads.

What kind of vehicle is Jason building this motor for ?

I personally thought that cadi just rated the HP higher...My 6 litre 4x4 makes about 260 and 300 RW Torque stock... Lot of drive trane loss with 3/4 ton 4x4 though..I also have the hybrid ls6 heads with 9.4-1 comp.

I was wondering if you were still alive Brooke. Jason is wanting to put a 6.0 in his 2000 Chevy 1500 stepside. Have you been to the track recently with your HD?

Damn I wish Cadillac would just tell us where the extra HP is coming from.

brookes loss is about 15% through the drivetrain, so that seems about right. I would like to see an actual stock dyno sheet for an escalade, even though i dont think that will happen anytime soon i think it would show alot as for overrating. If the part numbers are the same then i would say its the more aggressive ecm and then milled heads (unless there is anything else to raise it?). even then, 45more hp??? thats quite a bit from 6/10ths of a point on compression and new ecm. Im thinking they do that, but ALSO over rate them. i dunno...

Update! Ok we found out that in fact the 6.0L (LQ9) does have a different piston than the 6.0L (LQ4) I wish I knew if it was a cast aluminum or a hypereutectic piston though?
The cylinder heads have the same part number on both engines also. The camshaft is showing the same part number, but I really wonder if that is right.
