Default Engine Swap Preference?

i was just wonderin why so many of the guys on here choose to go with a 6.0 ltr in a engine swap instead of an ls1 ?i figure the ls1 will cost a lil more but it is an aluminum block and revs a lil higher i beleive. plus in stock for it already has a good bit of power. on the other hand the 6.0 is a lil cheaper and everything is a pretty much bolt on swap from the 4.8-5.3 to tyhe 6.0 .
can u use the same intake off the truck motors on the ls1? just wonderin why the preference was for the 6.0ltr.

I think because of price and the ease of the swap!

everything will cross over on each motor but the iron block 6.0 is cheaper to rebuild because it does not use sleeves and it is stronger than the LS1

yep, everything swaps over directly no matter which of the mentioned motors you have. Only difference is that you will pay more for the LS1, why get 5.7L when you can have 6.0L? the same rev amounts can be acheived from both if properly built, the only advantage of the LS1 is the almuinum block, which is negated by the loss of potential displacement

No replacement for displacement! Also like others mentioned the aluminum blocks are pricey.
I always gotta stick this in ( bring the usual flames on ), try boring out a 4.8 or 5.3 block to 3.905" ( same as LS1 ) and stuffing it with a 4" stroker crank. 6.3L/383 cubes, cheaper than a 6.0L short block if you do the work yourself. Kept me away from the TV for a few weeks if nothing else!

i went lq9 cause i got a good deal. have a 408 sitting around cause i got another good deal[not enough funds left to finish topend]
reason not ls1 cause of price, weight and strenght.

a LQ9 is stronger then a ls1 power vs power and block strenght
