Default engine swap extras

I'm doing the 4.8 to 6.0 swap with an FLT level 5 tranny. I have the long block coming, and was wondering what tools/parts you would recommend I have to make it all go smoothly. I have a new alternator, starter, water pump, motor/tranny mounts, lt headers.

Anything else?

By the way I'm doing this in a well equiped speed shop with a lift, engine hoist, and overhead crane.

Yes, I plan on waiting on the TVS1900. Hopefully it's as good as everyone says it will be.

Quite a few friends, and coworkers want to help, probably about 4-6 people will be helping me. So hopefully some will drink, and some will work.

Most will drink and watch... Then take a few parts off and not tell you where they put the bolts. lol The real nice ones will put all the performance stickers you get with the parts all over your truck when your not watching and they are drinking. Wish I could help... lol

Most want to ride in it, or drive it(yea right) when it's finished. A few of them really know what they are doing, so I hope they help. Maybe I'll hide the beer for a couple of hours.

I'd get some zip ties so you can tidy things back up.

If you don't get the harmonic balancer with the new block, you're going to need a 3 jaw puller to pull the old one to swap it over. Auto Zone loans them for free. They call it a Chrysler harmonic balancer puller but it works. Also, the alternator, starter, water pump, motor/tranny mounts will all swap over from your old motor. No need to buy new unless you just want fresh accessories and mounts.

Good luck, and keep us updated on how it goes!

Rex is re-using the balancer with the block. The other stuff I'm just doing, because the old engine, and tranny have 115,000 miles. I don't want to be out somewhere, and overheat, or not start, because of a $100 part. The alternator I had to buy about a month ago, when the old one started dropping below 13 volts, so I went with a 140 amp one.

Get the red o-ring for the oil pump.

Here's my pics from my swap/pull. Take note of what I left on when it was pulled. . . . Manafolds, flex plate, water pump . . coil packs . . . it's easier to pull the parts when the engine is out verses while it's in the truck.
