I got my hands on a 02 ZO6 vette engine with 9,000 mi. I have a 02 GMC sierra rc/sb that I want to swap out the 5.3 for the ZO6 vette engine. I have the complete engine, harness, pulleys, computer, etc. Is this a plug it swap or do I have to cut and splice wires? I thought about purchasing a LS1 edit for the engine after I install it in my truck, will that work? Will I have to beef up the tranny? I really need to know what to do, I have a good idea but im not sure.
Your help would be apreciated-

All your accessories, pulleys, intake etc. from the truck will bolt up to the LS6. You can use your truck pcm and just have it tuned or use edit. I think the injectors will feed it but to be safe you may want to use the 8.1 injectors. That way you don't need to splice anything.
Let us know how it goes, that will be a kick *** truck.
I've been thinking of doing something like that myself...

You may want to beef up the trans. Depending on how hard you are on it, it will let go sometime.
That motor should be a nice addition to your truck. as was already stated, you'll set aside all accessories, intake, wire harness, etc... form the LS6 and use the truck items. The truck should run just fine on the stock tune with the LS6 installed. It won't know it has a different motor. You will make more power if you do get it tuned after the swap, but it will drive fine otherwise. Since the stock shift points are pretty low, you won't be taking advantage of all the new power, but that also means the stock injectors should be OK (at least until you move shifts up to 6200).
Install a torque converter at the same time. Kill two birds with one stone.

thanks for all teh advise guys. I wanted to mention that I have the injectors and intake also, cant I just install the engine as is with all its accessories and injectors and intake. Or do I have to swap everything from the truck engine to the vette engine. What do you think I should do to the tranny? I was thinkingb to go with a trans go shift kit.
