Engine Surgeing???
#1
When I go to about 3/4 throttle, my engine starts to surge. It's almost like the throttle is moving back and forth and I can even hear the changes in the air flow. I hooked up the Predator to see what if anything looked out of the ordinary. The only thing I saw was that the MAF readings would jump around. What would cause this? BTW, it's the worst when I am going uphill and right now, I am hauling ~ 1000 pounds of my stuff.
Thanks,

Mine did that for awhile. I told my tuner and he took care of it. I think it had something to do with the torque converter locking and unlocking. Mine only did it at a steady 45mph.

mine had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago, But it was caused by me removing and reinstalling spark plug wires, the engine would surge horrible because the wires were actually arcing against the block. If youve done anything near them or changed them recently, Id do a quick check.

Thanks guys. I'm pretty sure it's not the torque converter. It doesn't feel like it's locking up at all. I checked the intake system for leaks and I couldn't find any. I was thinking the MAF might be dirty but I just cleaned it a couple months ago but I'll take a look. I will also check the spark plug wires but I haven't messed with them in a while.

One other item to check is the IAS ( idle air sensor ) on the TB. If it is sticking it could cause the symptoms you described. Also look at the EGR system, I had the tube from the valve to the intake crack and cause funny running ( mostly at idle tho ).

I've been out to sea for a while so I couldn't work on it for a while. Yesterday I finally had a chance to check out some stuff. Everything mentioned so far looks good. I also changed the fuel filter and retorqued my rocker bolts. (I had a cam and LS6 springs installed about 5-6k miles ago. I'm wondering if it might be my fuel pump. When I drove out to Cali, I was carrying 2100lbs. I drove about 100-150 miles through some steep mountains. So basically, I was at ~3500 - 4000 rpms for quite a while!
How do I test the fuel pump? I'm assuming there is a place to add a gauge in the system???
