Default Engine Questons

well i finally got a new exhaust i ended up getting glasspacks on my truck and they sure do sound good at idel its a deep rumble and at wot they scream my tips exit in front of the rear passenger tire i got a couple of questions since i got they exhaust on i been puting the pedal to the floor well i dont do it to the point where the tires squeal but for example at a red light earlyer i mashed the medal and and the rpm gage went to 3 1/2 thousand will this hurt the engine any how tuff are gm engines mine is a 2005 chevy silverado with 5.3 L it has 1,500 miles on it need lots off informatiom about wether this is safe or not but it sure does turn heads evey time i get on it and every time i turn it on in parking lots

3500RPM? That's it!? That's fine, I do burnout outs where I hover and climbe above the 5000RPM mark and sometimes bounce off the rev limiter , but yeah, that's fine. Your transmission will go before your motor does. GenIII motors are extremely strong and forgiving.

thanks for the information i was worried it would hurt my engine in that case i will have to do it more often maybe a couple of burnouts to

what exactly would hurt your truck? is it bad to step on it at times throughout the day? and can you guys explain to me exactly what glasspacks do and why people make such a big deal about them?

a glasspack is just straight muffler thin that makes alot of noise
