Engine problem
#1
Sorry this is soo long,,,
About an hour ago I was going to go to a friends house, turned my truck on for a bit to warm it up(its about 45 degrees here), got in put it in park and 15 yards later it turns off, turns right back on but when I shift to park the engine loses power, the lights dim and the engine struggles to stay on, it stays on but you can barley hear the engine, the engine is really soft and struggles, the goes off.
It turnes right up though, here is what I noticed, when I turn it back on and rev up the engine, the oil preasure goes up to about 70 psi, and the battery guage goes up and down from like 11 to 14 volts. When I can actually drive it the oil preassure stays at like 60 psi, and goes up and down depending on how fast I go. SO I WAS WONDERING, what causes there to be high oil preasure? I checked the oil and it is a little on the low side. ALSO, this truck has spent most of its life at low sea level, I live way up in the mountains, could that cause something too?
Thanks

With the voltage readings fluctuating from 11 to 14 , I don't know if you can trust the oil pressure readings. It sounds like you might have a alternator/regulator going bad or possibly a bad ground.

Oil pressure at 65 - 70 mph will be at 70#s. At idle, you should see just above 60. I've heard that different altitude levels have an effect on vehicles performance, but not with electrical. Have your alt checked (Autozone, Advanced AP, O'Rielly, etc). Free test for a few minutes of time. Worth the assurance.

get you alt and battery checked out. i went to autozone becuase when i would push the button to roll the windows up the gauge would drop dramatically. they checked everything and supposedly everything was okay. about a month or two later my battery died. i replaced the battery with a optima red top and now stays right around 14.

They say its not an alternator problem, it could be the wiring that works with the fuel pump. When I installed a new fuel pump a while ago there was this fuse that was blown and my truck would not start. Well when they check my truck out the fuse went out, it should only push 15 amp buts its pushing 45 amps, then the fuel pump wen out. They say it could be the fuel pump wiring in the fuel pump, or the wiring that work with the pump.
