Default Engine Oil Temperature

I have a 2008 Silverado with the 5.3L engine and I want to monitor engine oil temperature but after lots of searching I don't know where to install an oil pressure sensor. I was hoping you guys would have a better idea about this since you guys seem to hop up your trucks more than the people on other forums. This guy installed his in the bypass plate for the oil cooler http://xse.com/leres/ss/gaugepod.html http://xse.com/leres/ss/images/cover-sm.html but that plate is different on my engine and I don't know if that would introduce any restrictions. Thanks in advance.

what type of block-off is on your engine? I know a lot of the LS1 guys run the mech. gauges in that spot..

It is where I have mine. The autometer sending unit does not protrude into the oil path. Works great.

I have this kind of block off. It also looks like it won't have enough metal to thread properly.

looks to be near the same as the older ones. why not just buy an older blockoff, tap it and switch them out the next time you change your oil?

I wasn't sure if it would fit there, though I don't see why it wouldn't. Can't hurt to try at least.
