Question Electrical problems!!!

I have a 99 5.3. I installed an optima red top battery and i have the factory alternator. I am running 2 amps for my system, however i have a capacitor. Heres the problem. I have this annoying sound coming from my speakers and it gets worse when i either turn on my ac or heater or even press my power window buttons. I can push both the driver and passenger window buttons up (with the windows already up) and the volt meter will drop ALOT and the headlights will dim some. Is this a ground problem? Also my daytime running lights keep burning out. I have gone a week with those bulbs before i have to change them again. I need help!!!!!!

Is this noise only heard when the engine is off. What was the last change in you system that might have triggered this noise? I suggest check all your grounds maybe even try a different place(amps and head unit), run your signal cables as far away from the power cable, and check all your RCA connection to make sure they are all the way in. This was the cause of my last noise problem in my system. Hope it helps.

That's odd....... I don't know what your problem is. I know some audio guys that might know though, I'll ask them. Hopefully they'll have an answer.

I would say what tib said, make sure the power wires are run on the opposite side of the RCA cables. The dimming of the lights is normal when you try and make the windows go up when they already are. Its a high consumer and your making it higher by increasing the amperage draw by using the window motors that can't go anymore. With two amps, I would either think about a 135A,200A altenator or a overdrive pulley. The latter is the cheapest to do for now but you get a whine like a bearing from the altenator is bad. Its not stereo related but it doesn't sound that great to me.

i have about the same problem......
i have a yellow top and 2 amps. when i hit both window bottons i can kinda hear my subs like thump...not really thump but they pick up the noise from the windows. ive tried a few things but no luck. i have tried different grounds. i have power as far away from the RCAs as can be.
what im gunna try next is re-grounding the engine compartment...gettin some 4ga wire and daisy chain a few grounding points.

negative post to chassis.

negative post to tranny,

tranny to engine block

engine block to engine mount grounding point

engine mount grouding point to chassis

ive done couple of my friends lil imports. results are depending on how good the grounds comes from factory. i havent checked my truck to see how good are the grounds yet.

Did you ground the amps to the floor where they're mounted, or run the ground back to the battery?

I've heard about ground loops causing noise in a stereo.
How hard would it be to run a temporary wire from the amp to the batt negative just to see if the noise goes away?
