Default electric fans

im pretty sure this is the wrong forum, but i didnt think it was a stereo or wiring issue....

looking to swap my clutch fan from my 02 sierra 4x4 4.8 to electric fans. im sure somebody out there has done this. how about did you do it. i know flex-a-lite and permacool both offer kits. i was really wanting to put 05 pickup fans on it. what should i do??

to do the 05 electric fans you'll have to have the 34" radiator, which is an added expense. alot of people, myself included, are using used fans from an LS1 F-body without any issues. The LS1 fans are reasonably priced (usually around 100-125) and you can get a wiring harness from vendors such as Nelson Performance (link in sponsor bar), but it depends on how you want to control them, the Nelson harness is set up for PCM control, but that will require a custom tune to activate this feature. you can have a custom harness made to work with an aftermarket controller or manual turn on.

will the f-body fans bolt right up to my stock radiator? if so, that sounds like the way to go. i work at a gm dealership and i see the hack jobs that some people do to their trucks. dont really want mine to look like theirs if ya know what i mean. i appreciate all the info guys.

Yep, LS1 fans work fine. I'd looked over on LS1Tech, you can find a nice set for around $100.

Flex-a-lites are crap. I've had nothing but problems, if I where to do it over, I'd either get the 34" radiator and 05' fans, or the $600 permacools. I've spent over that on the Flex-a-lites.

the fans dont "bolt" right up to your radiator. they fit right in the section and rest of the lower lip of it but you either have to custom fab a mounting bracket or use zip ties to hold it in there.

does anyone have pics of stock e-fans on new GM trucks? My Flexalites do not cool enough for my right foot and was wondering if the stock e-fans cover more of the rad or if they pull more air or something. Do they come on any trucks besides the SS or am I wrong here too. I dont want to use the stock manual fan, it sucks way to much power.
