Default EGR Removal

I was wondering if EGR removal made any difference at all? I have already sent off for my tune but I am sure I can call them and tell them to add it to the list of things I requested. That is all that would have to be done -- correct? Just remove the egr, plug the holes, and get it tuned out? Would it run right w/o the egr even if it is deleted in the tune?

EGR requires more than just turning it off in the pcm. There are actuall tables that have set values for added timing when using EGR. So if you delete that, make sure they adjust the rest of the stuff too. Some people I have talked to said it made the car smoother having the EGR, while others didnt even notice the difference. So its up to the driver at that point.

But a good tuner like Brian Herter will know how to fully and effectively tune around it ---- right?

Made it run smoother? It would seem to me that blowing hot exhaust back into the intake would rob at least 5 or so horses.

I would think that when some say it ran smoother was because of how it affected the timing tables by blowing exhaust back into the intake to reburn it. Again, thats why there is a table that adds timing in certain areas because of it.
