egr block-off plate part #?
#1
a while back there was a thread i started about the little brass-colored plug in the intake manifold to block off the egr hole. does anybody have the part # for this thing? BigKID said he did but never found it i guess. i've got one of those rubber freeze plugs in it now but it's all crooked and i'm just waiting for it to fall out. went to the dealer and they just looked at me like wtf?? (figures). i would really appreciate it if somebody could find it for me. thanks.

i'm going to a local shop that carries LS1 stuff here in a little while to pick up an EGR block off kit actually, i'll let you know what all it has, how much and all that. you can just unplug the egr stuff and block off the part of the exhaust manifold and leave the rest in place, but if you want to take it out to clean things up then there are also plugs for the intake manifold part that can be found at a local hard ware store, LOWES, something of that nature.

yeah, thats what i have in there now. its a cheap rubber expandable freeze plug but it was a PITA to get in there and its crooked. the truck runs like it has a vaccum leak and i suspect the plug. just wanted the gm part for some piece of mind. i'm really **** about little **** like this

Part number 12558346. I think it was like $15. I just sat down to type up a list of parts and part numbers on my 1994/5.3 project so I had the number handy. I know whatcha mean about the dealer guys and the deer in the headlights look!

cool, i might just make my own with some scrap sheet metal around here, cheap and easy...silicone would work for a sealant on the header part right, then a piece of metal cut to fit on top of that bolted down.

thanks alot L-EATER!!! i've been trying to find that part # for a couple of months now. i would just homemake something but like i said, i'm REAL **** about little stuff like this and i always question my ghetto-rigging skills. i've got a piece of 3/16ths steel over the hole in the header with the factory gasket and rtv sealer so i don't think that puppy is going anywhere, i was just worried about the hole in the intake manifold leaking. and once again

I think you can get the high temp gasket material at a autoparts shop and cut your own.
