Its a completely new intake manifold. It looks like a plug, but its one piece with the intake. The inside of the intake is perfectly flat with no signs of the hole where EGR went.

BigTex, are yousure about that? My buddies 02 and the recent rental truck I had both had a plate in the side of the manifold. I got a part number for the plate from the dealer but it was 11 bucks with a $8 gasket so I made one my self out of a piece of 1/16 sheet metal and the gasket off the original EGR tube. I will try to find the part number I got.

On My 2002 GMC the spot where EGR went is molded into the intake. However on 2 different 2002 chevys that I have seen the EGR spot has a brass colored block off plate. Maybe it was due to build dates of certain trucks. Mine was built in Feb. 02 I doubt it would be due to GMC VS Chevy or anything like that. All motors were 5.3s

yes, the brass plug looking thing is what i'm talking about. BigKID, if you could find the part #'s for that and the gasket i would really appreciate it. i thought about making my own but it has a screw on one side and kinda clamps in on the other so i didn't really want to go that route. when you took it off did you just unplug it and leave the plug hanging or what?
