Default EATON POSI need opinions

this is supposed to be a brand new eaton posi

I pulled it out today and noticed scratches all in the case
are these factory machining marks
is this normal
is this the way EATON does things?
or what


any help is appreciated

Is it just the pics or is the yellow on the springs faded too?

That looks normal. The paint on the spring is like the paint on the TB return spring - looks old even when new. The rough machining on the housing is for balance.

You're going to love that thing, everyone does.

I wasnt sure on the scratches
that makes sense though
In addition i didnt notice any scars where the ring gear would have been bolted up
or scars from carrier bearings.
I believe 67ss509 has another unit for sale $290 if anyone is interested
