Eatons are usually in the ballpark of $500.00

Around here, install for Eaton Posi, new ring & pinion of your choice, shims, oil, bearings, and everything else needed is around $1000-1100.00 if you want it done right.

Sometimes you get what you pay for......and gears need to be done right and by a reputable drivetrain shop.

I just saw that you're from League City.

My recommendation would be to take yours to Pyle Brothers in Baytown, TX. Excellent Quality and they are absolute TOP NOTCH!

More than a grand?
I got my eaton posi, gears and install kit from an ebay store by the username 589gear for $600 shipped. Then I got referrals to a place called Hooper's Rear End near where I live. Supposedly the best rear end shop in town, they did the labor for $200.
I love it

I got the Eaton in my Ford for about $330 on ebay a while back from 589gear. It was brand new in the box. $500 is what you'd expect to get gouged for, I think Summit sells them for just over $400.

The Eaton LSD is sooooooooooo much better than the G80 they make. The LSD is locked all the time instead of using a counter weight based on wheel slippage to lock. Traction is much improved. The Eaton is fully rebuildable too.

I meant Eaton + Install Kit for $500....but even still, I guess I was shootin' a little high. I always tend to do that.

Joe (shares shop with Allen Nelson) in San Antonio quoted me $1050 for all the above)
Pyle Brothers quoted me $1100
Shop down the road quoted $900, but I had my first set of gears installed their and 2 minutes down the road.....whining, and then clankidy, clank, clank.....there goes my new gear set.

Took second rearend to Pyle Brothers.....much more expensive, but my gears also lasted 2 years until I sold that truck. Was worth the extra $200.

Ohhhhhh with the install kit, then ya that's about right. I paid ~$90 for my install kit with axle bearing and axle seals too.

If you are willing to drive to south TX, you can get it done for a lot less. I take you don't want your gears changed just carrier. I got my original open diff swaped out for an Eaton Posi for $70 and some
This guy http://www.musclemods.com/mm_flash_main.html here in south TX will do a gear swaps for $125 and $70 for the carrier only and his work is top notch.
