E Fan?
#1
Hi All, Start off by saying excellent site. New owner of a 00' 5.3 4x4. First Mod I would like to install e fans. I have been reading about the LT1 Fans and LS1 Fans. I called a shop here locally that I have another car at and they want 680 for the #282 Flex a lite kit. Which would be the best efan for the bucks and what all would have to be done for the install? Help appreciated!

First off, Welcome to the board!!
I just installed the Flex282's and am really pleased with there performance. The only problem with them is that they don't fit on the small core radiators. You have to get a HD radiator that has a wide core. Between the cost of the fans(which can be found cheaper than $680
) and the radiator the price starts to get up there.
I think a cheap and very effective swap would be to use either the LT1 or LS1 fans along with the Flexalite VSC fan controller. The controller is VERY nice and is relatively cheap for what it does at $79.00.
There is the Perma Cool 19517 fans also that will fit on the smaller core radiator. They are kinda exspensive though at ~$600.
One other option is the Flex a Lite 295's. These fans should fit the smaller radiator but, I'm not sure on that. Maybe somebody is running them and will chime in. They are ~$370 with controller.
I think the guys who use the LT1/LS1 fans just have to fab up some brackets to mount them.
E-fans are a very popular topic here, I'm surprised you haven't got some "opinions" from others yet. LOL

Mudz5.3,
Please tell me that $680 is for the fans and install!
I'll second John's opinion on the Flexalite 282's. I'm very happy with mine and the VSC works really well too. Flexalite does make a dual fan kit for the smaller 28" radiators now too. I believe it's the 290 and it also includes the VSC.

Hey, Thanks for the response. I don't think that the people where I called knew what exactly I was looking for. I like the sound of the 295's, plus the cost with the HD rad and the fans is a little too much for now. I will go with the 295's. Thanks for all the info. I am sure you will be hearing more from me, considering its my 1st LS1.
I have worked on them many times before, just never had the pleasure of owning one. Thanks
