Default Truck is vibrating going down the highway. need help!

My truck vibrates really bad when going down the highway, and it feels like its coming from the rear section of the truck. About 2 years ago a woman t-boned me as I pulled out into the intersection. I had to replace one of my rear axles because it was bent. I believe thats when the vibration started, I didn't notice it until recently because over the past 2 years it seems to be getting worse. Could my u-joints be bent and wobbling themselves more out of alignment the more I drive it? Should I replace my u-joints?

Had your wheels balanced lately?

You might consider supporting the frame with jackstands high enough to get the rear off the gound and doing some testing. Obviously this could get dangerous, so chock the fronts well and use a level surface. With the rear in the air put it into drive and let the rear wheels roll. Look for run-out or wobble on your wheels. Look at the tread - it should not be changing in altitude much as the wheels go around. (Some tire run-out can be countered with weights) Look at the rims, they should be absolutely true. Look at the driveshaft, it should not be wobbling much if at all, again - some wobble can be counter-balanced. If you still don't see any problems have a friend very carefully increase engine rpm. If the wheels happen to hit the exact speed where the vibration harmonic is just right the whole rear may start violenty shaking, so be careful.

Another easier thing to try is throwing your stock wheels and tires on the back if you've got them. This might help determine of the problem is the wheels/tires or the driveline.
