drive by wire accelerator hanging or running rpms up
#1
I drive a 2007 V-Max 6.0 2wd. Does anyone else have instances where their drive by wire wants to have a mind of it's own? I'm having to hit the brakes and my rpms are going up when I'm trying to stop or in traffic. I've had to throw the truck into N and kill the switch before the rpms got too high and I've had to do it approaching a red light too, not my favorite situation!
Any ideas?

Nothing but stock engine as far as I know. I bought it with 32k miles on it last year, took a while to get it lowered so I can get in it. I use hand controls, I know it's not the control because it has a very stought spring return bringing the trottle peddle back up. The dealership told me unless there's a code showing the don't know. They want to drive it. It also won't hold the speed in check down hill on cruise, mass of truck speeds it up and the it holds at whatever the speed is at bottom of hill.

I had the same problem but it wasn't as drastic as what you're saying as I never had to kill the engine. Justin @ BB told me to clean the TB and verify it was tight on the intake and it solved the problem.

i recently removed and cleaned my throttle body (had lots of carbon or some type of gunk built up) when i reinstalled it and drove it it acted exactly how you just described, i removed battery cables for half an hour or so, replaced and drove around. computer seemed to have needed to 'relearn' how to position the throttle body blade because it was so nasty and wasn't used to it being clean.

Thanks everyone, I'll check the TB. The battery was relocated because I had the truck dropped and new inner fenders made, possibly that contributed to it having the problem but a little heavier gauge wire was used in lengthening the connection back to the firewall "relay"?

I doubt it, but I'm no expert. Does it have a K&N or any other type of oiled air filter. If those things get over oiled and wet, the oil can get on the throttle body and gum it up.
I did have an 01 5.9 liter dodge ram that had that exact same thing happen where I had to shut off the truck and it was because of the K&N filter being over-oiled and gummed up the throttle body.
