I voted 408 because the 122 probably couldn't supply anything more than that sufficiently IMO. I don't know much about CARB but i'd have a feeling that anything much larger than the 6.0 might have a hard time passing.

to add to what mj said, I would suggest letting fuel economy fall where it may, with the type of cam you'll need to run to pass smog it shouldn't be terrible with a good tune. However, with passing smog being in the equation, a 408/122/and alot of power might not add up to compliance. then again, if you had the ability to pulley up for a smog test, ran a proven smog compliant cam, and kept the displacement reasonable you will probably be ok, but it should be understood there are never any guarantees with these things

I know its not many peoples "Dream" engine, but I would love to have it with the 122 on it or even better a 70mm front mount.

So you are basically working with 15-6-2500=6500. 6500 to have a built motor and have it installed along with all the conversion stuff for the 80e swap is ludacris. Come back down to earth and either lower your goals, add more money to the mix or do it yourself. It has been my experience with hot rodding that if your arent independantly wealthy you have to learn to do it yourself. It just costs too much for installation of parts.
WOW
I didn't realize I was being unrealistic in my goals.
So if I just did a forged 6.0 with the GT2-3 Lingenfelter cam and have Richard from WCCH work his magic on some heads and put the M122 Radix on, you don't think I will pass smog.
Calif smog guys will never know you did internal work on the engine, As long as it passes the visual and sniffer you are OK

I didn't realize the 80 conversion itself was so expencive. does anyone have a link to a company that does the AWD conversion?
I will call FLT Monday and talk to them.

Parish asked if I get 17 mpg Stock with what I have in my sig,
At 66 mph I get 18mpg but I usually do 75 which is 16-17 my over all it about 14-15 with in town driving, In town only I get 12-13mpg

a 3700 mile trip to Texas I averaged 14.7 and that was with 6 passes at the track a quite a few WOT through out the trip.

As always thanks for the help, I am still planning on doing something. I will talk to Rick at Synergy Motor sports and pick his brain.

Mybe I will sell my Radix and just do the LS7
Not, I love my Radix to much do do that
Thanks
Mark

Seriously. That is within the budjet for sure. You could even put a cam in the LS7, sell the radix and 6.0 and take that money to buy a tranny .
Then have you a bottle for when you need it!
That is basically what 2bseen is doing. C5R 427 ET 240's (or 245 I can't remember) and 2 stages of nitrous. He still has the 4l60e and so does Turboberserker. They are both pushing more hp than you probably will or at least as much. I'd give it some serious thought. You can probably get $6k for the 6.0 and Radix???

or the warkhawk 454 lsx block and heads with 6 bolts per piston. then you could put all the boost to it you want. but that would cost a little more i'm sure lol.

There are a lot of smart people around here, and a bunch of good ideas have been posted. If you are really serious about that kind of project, I would get in touch with one of the serious LSx builders such as:
http://www.w2wpowertrain.com/

These guys haven't built anything that isn't first rate.
