Default drag radial question?

Does anyone know of a streetable drag tire that fits a 16 inch rim that is somewhere between 28-30 inches tall? I am aware of the M/T ET street 28x11.5-16 but I want something that can be driven in the rain. I really want the Nitto 555 305-18's but can't swing that much $$ right now for four wheels and 4 tires. I am wanting to put some soft compound tires on and leave 'em on for everyday use. I drive my Buick around on ET Streets but I want something better in the rain for the truck. Something like the Nitto or BFG but 28-30 inches tall. Any suggestions??

I'll be suprised if there is, I looked just about evrywhere for my truck. I ordered MT et 28x11.5016 that I'll throw on at the track. I opted for the tubes so the total was about the same as Nittos-305... If you change your mind about the Nittos Jegs has them at a good price.
I'm not sure how the MT are going to be on the street. Not sure if there so soft they wear quickly in normal driving.

I wonder if you couldnt buy a reular set of cheap truck tires and soak them in the Tire Softener stuff you can get out of Summit or Jegs and have it work almost like a DR. I mean it may not be as good but I bet you could get them decently stick. Myabe take an old set of tires and try it. They work fine in the rain still but you'd get crappy life out of em if you drove them alot.

Not sure what size you need but a lot of Lightning guys are using these:

Click on "Size & Specs".

Yeah, Lightninrod, the 305 45 18 555r's on the back and the 295 45 18 555's fronts on some AR wheels that I have picked out is what I really want but I am still recovering from tax time and really don't have the $2100+ right now. I found a lot of choices in 15 inch sizes but from what I understand the Chev is like the L in that most 15" wheels won't clear the brakes, at least without grinding, etc (which I am not against if thats what it takes) If I thought I could keep it from the wife I would just put the Nittos and wheels on the Mastercharge and I would be rollin' in a couple days

Ok- I got tired of comtemplating this/that/and the other-I am running out of time to get my combo straightened out and post some decent numbers before the weather gets 90++ and very humid. I am shooting for a low 12 before spring is over and I can't do it without traction so I broke down and ordered some 15x10 white spoke wagon wheels and some M/T ET Streets 28x13.50-15. Its gonna look like *** but I should be able to make use of the stall now. I am going to the local 1/8th mile this Friday and or Sunday so I will post the numbers as soon as I get back.

Why did you go with 15s? M/T makes a 28x11.50x16 now. Jegs nor summit lists them on the tire page in the online catalog but if you look them up by part number they have them. 3796 for the 11.50 and 3797 for the 12.50. Of course you will have to put the corrisponding prefix in front of that number for the summit/jegs number. You can also see the full product line here: http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/strip.html

I went with the 15's for a couple reasons. More sidewall for more "wrinkle" and I wanted something wider than 11.50. Also these tires I am getting happen to be the exact size that I run on my Buick so if I don't like them on the truck I have another set for the car. I am going to get the Nittos once the budget allows.

2 THINGS,

1) I've had 28x11.50x16 back ordered now from Jegs since March. Should be any day now. After calling Jegs they put the blame on Mickey Thompson- they havn't arrived at Jegs yet.I'm putting them on 16 centerline billets that wiegh only 20lbs. I got them directly from centerline, there a discontinued style.

2)get your grinder out because you have to grind down the caliper for 15 rims to clear. Also be careful on the offset because ther'rs a bolthead wich may hit. I work with a guy that did it on his 99, he said it only took a few hours -no thanks

-Bigkid I didn't have any luck on contacting moda directly, How did you make out?

The grinder is on standby awaiting its call to action! That bolt head I think you are talking about is the brake line bolt-shouldn't be a prob. The wheels I am using have a 4 inch B.S. so the reason I said it is gonna look like *** is that 2 inches worth of wheel/tire are going to be out past the bedside. The wheels will be here either tomorrow or Thurs so I'll update the fitment as soon as I put 'em on.
