Default Dome Light

Whats up guys I am new to the board just picked up a 99 Sierra today and got alittle problem with it when I go to open the door to get out the interior light dont come on and I know its not the dome override cause I made sure it is off. When I manually turn on the light they come on fine and also when I unlock the truck with my keyless entry. Any ideas on why this is happening?

Maybe the door switch is sticking. Does it tell you if the door is open when it's in gear?

Welcome to the boards!

My Dad has had crazy problems with the dome light also. It would stay on even after he got out the truck so he just leaves the dome override on now...problem fixed.

Sorry, don't have any good answers to that one.

Oh, WELCOME to the board.

um, sounds like a door switch to me. how about the passenger side? the lights are also controlled by the BCM to keep the battery from going dead if it is left on accidently, so, there could POSSIBLY be a problem with it?

try adjusting the dimmer dial next to the override button. some times when this is turned all the way one way or the other way, it does something to the dome light i think. can't remember if this is true though. for some reason i remember in the past i was cleaning the interior of the truck and i noticed afterwards that something was different about my dome light, either it wasn't coming on or something. i finally figured out that i accidently brushed against the dimmer switch/dial and turned something on or off.

Sounds like it's the door switch then. I have no idea where it is though ... I've looked for it and can't find it either.

You could prolly call up your dealership and talk to the parts dept to get a price on the part, and while your talking to them ask them where it is anyways, and they will prolly tell you, if not they can find someone that can tell you.

I havent had any luck with this and its driving me nuts there switches in the doors seem to be fine cause when I open the doors the security light flashes on the dash is it possible that the body control module is messed up is there someway to reset it?

Only thing I know to try is unhook the battery overnight one night and see if that will do it. I would pull the door panel off anyways to check that switch out. I would still put my money on that.
