I agree... I have the MF SS cat-back w/ single side exit. I have had it for 3 years now. It has always done that...
Sounds really weird when I pass someone else that has a resonating exhaust, it makes this really loud Wa-Wa-Wa-Wa sound...then goes away as soon as I am away from them.

I know you like my description of the sound...don't hate

Anyway,
I called Magnaflow today.
The gentleman on the phone told me that whenever you reduce restriction in the exhaust you will get some "resonance".
He suggested that I install a resonator (MF muffler #14619) before the other muffler to REDUCE the drone. Not eliminate it. He said that the truck would nearly be as quiet as stock like this, but it would have better flow than stock.
When I asked him why they don't sell a system that eliminates the drone, he said "we design the systems to have little restriction and also give the truck a louder sound, which most customers want"
It sounds like he believes that the only way to have no drone is to add more muffling.

This sucks, I will wait a few more weeks to see how the system 'breaks in'
I will not add muffling to solve, I mean, help the problem.
This system is not loud. there is more volume at 2000 rpm than 5800rpm

The only system "guaranteed" not to drone is the Corsa. That I know of.
I like the corsa sound, but the muffler internals fall apart, and the tips are... so so.
Well you got a better reply than I did...I was told by thier tech dept that I should reset the computer..Yes No BS, thats what they said

Well, this is driving me nuts.
So yesterday I took the muffler out, and put in a piece of 3" pipe.
It sounded a little louder in the truck, not a lot.
The drone was still there, but you could hear the beat of the motor at the same time.
With the muffler, when it drones, that's all you hear.
I wanted to see if the muffler design was causing the drone.
It seems like it may be 'helping' the drone a bit. The straight pipe setup had a smaller drone rpm band.
I could almost leave the straight pipe on, since the drone with the muffler is so close to the same volume.
But, since my truck isn't as fast as it sounds with the straight pipe, I put the muffler back on. But it did sound badass.

SO, what next?
I do not want to cut this system and add something if it might not sound right.
I am trying to decide on a different muffler.
Pro Flow
MAC
Bassani
These 3 are not the typical "single perforated core" design.
Any input on these mufflers?

Adding bullets only slightly effected mine.I found a slightly used bassani from an escalade kit on ebay, its a dual/dual H in the middle,i think the magnaflow x would have been better.Had I stuck with original plan I would have went flopro like my last truck after trying 10+ combos over the years.I have a link for with and without bullets added, not a huge difference.Funny how some say "no drone" and have dumps or 1 chambered exhaust,I believe everyone different on the deffinition of resonence.

Thanks a lot gonzo
I think I can hear the tone of the drone in your sound clips.
It's still there after the bullets were added.
I am fine with some volume, but my drone has to go.

I found a decent price on a corsa single out the side system #14260.
90% sure that's what I will go with next.
If it falls apart, It's warrantied.

Anyone want a Magnaflow system with 400 miles? Cheap

Now I'm gonna ask,
Anybody with Corsa have ANY drone?
maybe that's another thread

The corsa flows only a little more than a stock SS muffler.Your talking $$$$.So you will be going single or duals?

I have a Corsa Sport rear exit. WOT throttle was way loud but the cruise drone was very good. I've added a set of MagnaFlow resonators into the tailpipes. Now I have a slight drone at crusie. Definately more noticable than the Corsa alone. Go figure.

Corsa single is what I want.
It is literally straight through. with a couple chambers linked to the center tube for sound treatment.
I would think it would flow like a straight pipe.
Am I wrong?

EDIT:
I want to add,
LT headers will probably be on within a month or 2.
Also, I would like to get a bigger cam some time.
I dont want to change the cat back again and again and again...
