Default Does anyone believe this?

I just got my September issue of Chevy High Performance, and they tested performance mods on a 5.3 truck. They added Grantelli plug wires(15.3hp and 17.3 ft lbstq), another 11 hp by adding a Granatelli MAF, and 29 hp with the cold air box, for a grand total of 55 hp for just these mods. They did not, however, include a dyno chart. If these numbers are real though, one could get 55 rwhp for less than 700 bucks.

Do you think these numbers are realistic or not?

Hell NO!! I added plug wires to my Silverado, nada. I tried several intakes, better but not 29 hp. I also had a GMS maf, now, I will say it was worth .15 at the track. However, I couldn't use my Hypertech tuning and the GMS maf, didn't like one another.

how do they get away with that crap? isnt there some kind of laws about false advertisment? or is it not false advertisment when SOMEONE ELSE says something about your product. that makes sense....a nice little loop hole in the system i guess.

nope, i have used aftermarket plugs, wires, maf, intakes and in no way did they give you 55hp

intake maybe 10hp
maf no difference in times same night
plugs " "
wires " "
intake same as drop in filter same night
each one was done together on diff. nights if that makes sense lol
hope this helps those wondering, on a side note every vehicle is different!

I agree with everyone here. No way in hell are you going to get 15hp with plugs or 29 with an intake. The only way i would believe a 29hp increase is if that trucks engine was force fed or built and previously had a stock intake that was restrictive. Other than that yeah right.

But hey there's going to be some suckers out there that are going to believe it and go buy these very same items and think they're going to get those results. hahaha.

Did you notice that they didnt post any real dyno results? I would like to see where in the RPM band they get those numbers. Its like the hydra rev kits that say you get 100 hp, bu thye dont tell you that is only if you had too small a spring to begin with.
I too would like to know how they got away with that. No hard numbers or graphs, dyno conditions, etc. But, there is a sucker born every minute......

You guys mean I spent 700 bucks for nothing.

JK I though it very fishy that they didn't post dyno results, when in the very same issue, they did dyno the other 5.3 truck while modding and found much smaller gains.

all forms of advertisement embellish to a certain extent

I gained 7 rwhp in my LS1 by changing plugs and wires from stock form---TR6's and Taylor vertex 10.4 mm racing wires. I am sure 5 rwhp is not out of the question for the 5.3L.
