Default Do belt tensioners come apart often?

I was wondering if our GEN III belt tensioners break often. Mine came apart today while I was doing some test'n'tune on the backroads. I'm not sure of what point it let go, but I found the belt about 30 yards after where I let off and found the tensioner pulley about 75 yards after that. I did hit the rev limiter a few times during that run and the previous run...is that what caused it? This one was from autozone, but I've also had a OEM one fail on a stock motor(while just cruising). Do I need to just carry a spare tensioner? Is there a better one or some way to fix them so they don't come apart?

DUDE! if it wasn't for bad luck, you'd have no luck at all! Hopefully you can take advantage of that "life time" warranty on your AZ tensioner.

Yeah, bad luck seems to be all I have lately. Yeah, I'll see if I can get it replaced, but if it came apart that easy, I'm gonna need a few spares for race day.

you need to watch going WOT and then let off and then jump right back to WOT thats for sure is a tensioner killer

good luck

They are about half way down the page, and three or four to pick from.
