Well. Have the welder and chop saw.

Thinking about it a bit. Would I want to put the x-pipe before or after the exhaust cutouts?

What I understand is the closer to the motor the x-pipe is, the better.

Some have said to spray some paint aft of the converters to the back of the truck. The point at which the paint stops burning is said to be the proper point. I'm not sure, but that's what I've heard.

As close as possible to the engine it is. First piece right off the headers when they come together.

I've been practicing with the MIG. A little Lincoln 140 basically. Works very well for a rank amateur. Went and got some gas today, 75 %Argon and 25% C02 and bought some regular exhaust pipe. Cutting it up and welding it back together. Big difference in weld quality vs the flux wire I had been playing with. Gonna take a couple weeks to get the recommended tri-mix for stainless. I'm gonna need the time to practice.

I don't see how I'm going to lay one bead completely around the pipe. With a lot of practice maybe half at a time. Anyway its kinda fun.

Before I made the final decision I would consult first with Oxidizr. If you can't reach him by PM, Brian should be able to hook you up.

There is a picture in Moregrips thread of his (Oxidizr) exhaust. The x-pipe is mayabe a foot back. I'm not going to get to hung up on the absolute best placement. My original placement question was in general would you want the exhaust flowing through the x-pipe when the exhaust was uncapped.

I would think you would still want the benefit of scavenging if the exhaust is uncapped, so the answer would likely be 'yes' to the before the cutout question.
