Eaton's gonna be smoother for a street bound vehicle. You can also updrage the preload springs to 800lbs (up from 400lbs) for an even heavier grab. They are black springs.

There's lots of peeps local to me running Eatons well into the low 11/high 10 sec range w/ 800lbs springs. They don't bind on turns and grab great.

Dont you think 800lb springs will act more like a spool in a RCSB truck due to there being little weight on the rear? Seems like that would put alot of strain on the axles, and wear tires alot quicker.

What did it run you for install?? Did you just get the diff or the Eaton and gears? Wish I could find a place to install them here at a reasonabble price.

i love my Eaton Posi. great mod

at first i was going to have someone put it in for me, but i had a hard time finding somewhere cheap. so i bought the tools i needed and tried putting it in myself. i never seen the inside of a differential until the day i put my eaton in. if i can do it, anyone can. now changing gears is a bit more difficult since you have to change the pinion gear.

I may give the Eaton a whirl!!! Who has or hasnt done the install on their own. I know it cant be too hard, just really time consuming. anybody know where an install guide is that I can look at? Any pointers on shimming the pinion and carrier?

check with "Agreif". he made a good website for installing posi. he did not so the gear swap so he didn't include how to change the pinion, just the carrier with the stock gears.

i did only the posi, not a gear change. but for the carrier shims, i just threw back in the stock shims. i didn't even need the adjustable shim kit i bought. i guess 7 out of 8 trucks can reuse the same shims. some you will need the kit. i got lucky i guess
