Default differences between borla and magnaflow???

are there any? is one muffler thought of as quieter than another? ive been searching for a borla xr-1 PN 40085 and they are none in stock anywhere...

i found a magnaflow 14619 that looks EXACTLY like the borla.

both are stainless steel with stainless packing. both are 3" straight through. the only difference is the magnaflow i 1" shorter in case length and 1" more round. oh, and the magnaflow is way cheaper... am i overlooking something?

wheres oxidyzer??

I'd say you'll be fine with the magnaflows. I think the only reason they arn't used in the loudmouth application is because of clearance differences.

If you can fit them they'll work great, i'd pick them before the XR-1s any day.

One has a name that says Borla and the other says Magnaflow.
That's one difference.
I would have to bet ya, that most members will direct you towards the magnaflow over the borla.
Magnaflow is built better. It will really just boil down to sound after that.
I don't see you gaining much if any over one or the other on the performance scale.

im not looking to gain performance. im looking to get rid of rasp. everyone over at tech uses the xr1 and says works awesome as a resinator. but i dont see any reason not to use the magnaflow. like crab said, i guess the camaro guys use the borla over magnaflow because of fitment issues. the mag is 1" bigger and ive heard of them beating in their floors to make the borla work.

Magnas are quiet. I wanted loud, so I didnt use one. Borla has better tone. Every Magna I heard was breathy, muffled and quiet.

I've got a 3" single in/out 14" MagnaFlow and it's plenty loud at WOT. Its got a smooth, controlled sound at idle and part throttle. I can cruise around and keep it under 3000rpm and you hardly know its there. At WOT it really lets itself be know. I've actually startled other drivers, by going WOT at 35-40 mph and having it downshift to 1st.
