Default Difference in these cams?

212-218/.522 .529 LSA 114 Dur .050
216-220/.525 .532 LSA 114 Dur .050

I have seen both recommended. They both cost the same. Is there any noticable difference between the two? More bottom end.....or less, better mid-range, more top end?

Thanks, Jay

The second one is gonna have a little more top end than the first one just because of the more duration. The first one would probably be a better blower cam if you were gonna run a lot of boost, but both would be better than stock. I would kinda like to konw how each of them idle though.

The second will lope more, have a little rougher idle, and not have quite as much power down really low, but it should make a higher peak and extend rpms out a little more.

So does the 216-220 lose torque compared to stock or just not gain as much as the 212-218. I do tow some and I'm not gonna be redlining it (too much). I just want a cam for solid gains all-around, that will compliment other mods later on. Opinions wanted.

Thanks, Jay

Do a search for the 216/220 cam here. Red2k installed it last year in his 5.3 and had issues getting it to idle. I'm pretty sure he lost some low end with it.

Everything else being equal, the more duration you add, the higher the powerband moves, at the expense of low end.

Thanks Big Tex, I think I'll stick with the 212-218.
