Default did my FPR take a *******?

well last night i was almost home and getting onto the off ramp and i noticed my wideband was reading 17-18, so i coasted to the light and then it proceeded to go back to normal and not have another problem...(yes i am aware that under decel it will read off but i was still in the throttle)

so this morning after about 30 min of driving i noticed it did the same again and my truck was surging so i was pretty nervous so i pulled off and shut down, then proceeded to fire her back up to do the same...well i need to get to work so i babied it alll the way without a problem...I let the truck sit for about 3 hours to cool off and i started it and had no problem with AFR, it was right where it was supposed to be...

i know ethanol in fuel does wonders for the rubber diaphragm so Im thinking that is what is bad...NAPA wanted $90 bucks for it but i have one on my 6.0 at my friends house 4 hours away...i took the work truck home until this weekend when he comes down this weekend but just wondering what you all thought it might be...i mean if it was a fuel pump, it wouldnt 'fade' after 30 min or so correct? just seeing what everyone here thought...

You should be able to check your FPR. Run the engine for a while or after a drive shut the engine off. Take the vacuum line from the manifold off at the regulator and check to see if it is wet with fuel. If it is wet then your FPR is bad and needs to be replaced. Not to bad to check and then you will know for sure.

yes i did forget to mention that...i did pull the vacuum line off after i got to work and it wasnt wet...but I remember reading somewhere that this method works but it still can be bad w/o out the tell tale sign off of fuel coming out...could be wrong

I'm betting on the pump. A common problem.
I have had 2 trucks in my shop w/ the same symptoms.
When I went to NAPA for replacements, I was sent to the dlr. Seems as tho the Airtex, and another brand, are famous for dying in very short order. So many, that the AP counter person refused to sell me 1....
I priced it at the dlr..DAMN!!
It was then to Rockauto.com... BIG savings!
