Default did i go too big

ok so my specs are in sig, but here they are again. truck is 5.3l with comp x259hr cam, i have pacesetter LT with 3" ypipe to 3" single flowmaster 40, then dumps out before rear axle. did i go too big on the exhaust sizing. my bottom end isnt what is used to be with shorty headers but havent fully tuned for LT's yet

Thanks
Tim

how about actually posting the specs on your cam instead of that number which doesn't show up on comp's website. Also, are you running an aftermarket torque converter? You can't just throw in a big cam and expect your low end to stay the same.

EDIT-Ok I found it. It's actually the xr259hr which is a 206/212 duration cam. That is a very small camshaft and you should have experienced hardly any low end loss with it(you may have even gained). When was the last time you had it tuned? Was it tuned for the cam?

Its the long tubes and nearly no backpresser from your exaust. i would recommend a good tune and you should be good to go.

the 5.3 do alright at 220/220 after that you will run into problems so your cam should be just fine

since you are asking abut your exhaust being too big and not the cam, no your exhaust is not too big. just needs tuned and it will be better

definately have it tuned the long tubes flow better and are designed for high rpm applications you will lose some low end with them

Only if the pipe I.D. is too large. Match the pipe size with the application and there should only be gain across the entire rev range.
