Default Diablo results

I had my diablo uninstalled for some 87 octane road trips.Yes Im that cheap. I decided to test and tune a bit. I ran 4 10.1s in tha 1/8th.Installed the 93 predator tune . Quickened my shifts , upped timing and line pressure and ran 10.15 10.18 10.20. What the ****? The truck feels stronger but the belltronics meter is not impressed. Two things Im thinking, It spins more off the line and the higher shift points may be causing tranny slippage .I really need to get a servo. A part throttle 1 2 shift is crisp and quick but reving to 5800 and shifting seems lazy.Thought you guys would like to see some real world testing. I have never had a custom tune , but it would have to do better than this ****.

I hated my diablo because it did the same to me. I ran a 16.5 with the diablo and a 15.9 stock

The dreaded torque management may have actually helped to get better ET because the truck would launch with less tire spin. What were the 60ft times with and without the diablo? I have a predator and volant ordered....I will be doing some testing at a local track. I will post the outcome.

Lets think about this for a second....The Predator is capable of saving your factory tune to a computer. You can then email this tune to anyone of the "tuners" mentioned on this board or others. Have them make the nessary adjustments email back to you and upload it to the predator and then to the computer on your truck. This basically the same thing as the nelson tune without having to remove the computer from your truck and shipping it. This is the reason I purchase a predator from Runnin With The Devil at no extra cost than what I paid for the Predator I will get a custom tune from James w/ Runnin With The Devil if I choose.

IMO, I think the problems described above
It spins more off the line
is because the predator did what it is supposed to do and the driver lacks the skills of adjusting his lauch with the added power. If it doesn't 60ft it won't run the numbers in the 1/8th mile or 1/4mile that's fact.

well guys i will say that they results from the test and tune above arent really that great. however i have much better results from my predator. with the predator and K&N intake kit i was running 14.9's in my ext cab 5.3L. i have swapped out the stock 3.42's for some 3.90's still peg legging it and dropped my ET to 14.7's all motor. so i dont think your results sum up the actual potential of the predator. i have ran faster times than some people with custom tuned PCM's. the driver is a big part of drag racing

you can get a tune from runningwiththedevil but the handheld cannot and will not ever be as good or replace the custom tunes.

Slowec, are these 1/8th mile times and if so what device are you using to get these numbers....just curious. If that is 1/8th mile times 10.1 to 9.80 is a really good increase that would mean approx 15.90 without the program to approx 15.20 with the program in the 1/4 mile. Hope I see similar once I get my installed.

02denali, it is my understanding that the tune from Running With The Devil is a custom tune. I agree with you that the generic tune in a handheld will never be as good as a custom tune but having the handheld with the option to install a custom tune is the best of both worlds.
