Default Dez tune info, new hp numbers

I got my truck tuned yesterday by Don at Dez. Cool guy. He did the first pull with the tune I had in there. Got 371HP. Interesting, I only got 322 at a different shop 2 weeks ago. I like his number better. Anyway, I was seeing as much as 8deg KR. He got it dialled in so I'm barely needing the alcohol and still getting no KR. Final HP number in 2nd gear was 372. He tried to run it in 3rd but said my tires were bouncing and vibrating so much it messed up the machine. Does that make sense? He seems to think I'm closer to 400.

I would have to say you may be less than that 372....in second gear you're not running 1:1...what size tires you running? may have to play around with tire pressures...or you got some serious axle wrap. May have to set up a dyno run at Dez myself..have a house just about 30 minutes away...do you know if they do dyno runs on Saturdays??

Regardless of his tuning abilities, why wouldnt he tune to take advantage of the alcohol system?? Would you put an intercooler on and not run more timing and/ or boost?? Of course you can tune so that the alcohol isnt needed, just get the timing low enough. For reasons such as those I will be doing some more tuning regardless of whether I have someone else do a new tune when I swap pulleys and put the cam in.

there is no need for the alcohol system with danalihd's set up. i talked to don later that day about it. when i 1st had my truck dyno'd at Dez Racing we did it in 2nd gear and it made 389rwhp. then went back and did it in 3rd gear and saw 435rwhp. As for the shop being open on saturdays you can call and try to schedual a appointment with Don for a saturday tune. The number is 1-508-336-6588. Ask for Don and if he isnt there then talk to Mike, he is the shop owner. Oh and Danalihd- nice numbers. I dont know if you saw a red silverado there but that was mine.

yeah dude, your truck is sweet looking. I put a huge dent in it when i was there. sorry. LOL. Don took me for a ride in his buddy's camaro with a STS turbo. WTF. that thing was sick. I was curious about why not to utilize the alcohol also. I assume Don knows his **** considering the HP they put out at that shop. I still need more power. Any suggestions that won't break the bank?

Danail- ya that camaro belongs to a guy named mike(purevl). He is one of Don's customers. That car is sick. What do you have for a exhaust system???? I know that a good flowing exhaust helps alot. Also a cam can do the trick. Did you ask Don??? He always has like 500000 ideas on how to make more power.

Great numbers.

FYI, dyno HP numbers mean nothing. Pick your favorite dyno shop and stick with it. That way you'll have some record of your gains over time. Otherwise, you'll be on different dyno type's with different calibrations, and have very skewed numbers.

Oh and the whole point of running alky injection is so that you can run more boost/timing without running into detonation. I'm surprised your tuner didn't use it.

Don didnt use the alky system bc the truck is making pritty much as much boost as it can safely handel right now. If it was a built motor then that would be a different story. Thats just what I have been told.

I hope you dont take offense to this, but not needing it at 8# of boost simply doesnt make sense. Thats like saying he doesnt need cooler air or the ability to safely run more timing or both. Alchohol simply cant hurt. It does make tuning AFR a little more difficult, but allows more timing and keeps detonation at bay.

Green- No offense taken. That is just what I have been told. All I know is that when he dove down there he was getting 8degrees of knock with the alky. Once Don was done he was making 50 more rwhp with no knock with out the alky. Now i am not against running alky, but it just looks like in this case it isnt really needed but in hot weather it couldnt hurt to have that extra insurance.
