Default developed a tick today...

the truck that is

i thought i have noticed a small exhaust leak before, and while driving today, all of the sudden it got louder...it is very noticeable while driving, quieter while idling, but still noticeable, even with the loudest squeaking belt i have ever heard.

got out and let the truck idle, even stuck my head underneath and i cant really tell where it is coming from. i know it is on the drivers side though.

i didnt smell anything burning or see any smoke anywhere.

any suggestions on how to make sure it is just an exhaust leak?

Have someone plug the exhaust pipe(s) with some rags and listen if the noise gets louder and/or changes pitch. If it's an exhaust leak, the noise should increase when the exhaust is plugged. If the noise doesn't change, it may be valvetrain or engine related.

i do not have an oil pressure gauge hooked up yet, and am just driving the truck around my neigborhood trying to get the tune set in.

would there be some signs if it were engine related? burning oil smell, smoke, etc...?

the engine temp never gets above 190 when i have the e-fan on, and the hottest it has been is about 215-220.

There may or may not be signs if it were engine related....if it's just a loose rocker arm, or a lifter starting to fail, you may not even notice a change in runability, just an annoying noise leading to bigger repairs...
