Default degreeing a cam?

Doing an install, cam, springs, timing chain, pulley...got all my part #s, ready to order, and I realize that I have no idea how to degree a cam. I guess the logical (uneducated)move is to mark the old one with respect to the block, the install new in same place, but I am sure there is a better way than that (degree wheel?)

Any help is great, ready to order...

No they don't, you can buy cams that have advancement already made into them. It really isn't worth it to even degree one..
