Cool Deal or not on Duramax Silverado?

After driving a GMC 2500HD Duramax at the Autoshow In Motion, I got hooked. The particular truck I drove was the SLT crew cab with all the goodies. I priced one out on edmunds.com and requested some dealer quotes, but none of them have the SLT with all the stuff. I did the same for a silverado, got the same results.

Anyway, I was at the chevy dealer today and they were trying to sell me a 2500HD ext cab, 4x4, full size bed for $650/mo with $3K down on a 72mo loan at 3%. This includes them buying out a lease (3 years left) on my wife's Jetta, which she kindly agreed to forfeit if we could get such a nice truck.

Is this a good deal, or am I getting screwed? I am thinking I should be getting this price without any down payment. I priced the exact truck the dealer was trying to sell me on Edmunds, and it came out to $38,900 without any rebates or cash-back.

The truck has all I want, except leather seating and some of the creature comforts...but those were the things that really hooked my wife and myself. I like that a truck can be so nice, yet at the same time I can pull a trailer and haul a ton of crap. And the duramax is really sweet.

So is this deal actually good or no? Is there ever a period where GM runs big cash-backs like that AND I have the option of ordering the truck exactly the way I want it from the factory?

That is NOT a good price at all. Run, do not walk away.

Another thing, don't deal in payments, deal in cash price. Right now, with incentives, you can fairly easily get $8-10k off sticker.

I figured as much.

How would I go about getting up to $10K off? I have the GM card, and they said I can add $4000 onto my GM earnings. Can I combine that with my $4000 GM loyalty rebate that I get for having a Trans AM? How do I work the dealer into giving me a great deal? The sticker price for the truck I am looking at now is $45K and change. Edmunds.com TMV is $40K and change, and I have the $4000 rebate...so that's like $9K off sticker right there. Would that be a good deal? Keep in mind, I am carrying over about $5700 to compensate for my wife's leased Jetta.
