Hey guys, so my dad came to me this weekend and wants some work done to his truck. 07 5.3 Z71 2wd. He wants better gas mileage outta the truck and is contemplating some sort of exhaust work. What would be his best bet for that? He was thinking dual exhaust all the way back, but is that really the answer? I hadn't suggested headers yet, but if thats the way to go, then I'll let him know. What do yall think? Headers, high flow cats, y -pipe, and a nice muffler. Don't want to break the bank either. He will want to be able to drive up to any inspection place and get it inspected too. Suggestions?

 

get a tune (blackbear) and then just a simple single in dual out muffler that you think suits him best. I think that would make him happy

I have HP Tuners and I can tune his truck for him. So you think just a muffler will work for him? We won't need to go further upstream in the exhaust? Don't know how these trucks react to exhaust work.

 

well if he wants duals out the back then i suppose do it, just swap the muffler and then run the pipes after that, don't mess with anything before the muffler.
