Default Custom Air Intake results and opinions

Today I picked up a custom 4in intake from a friend of mine. I put this intake in place of a regular KN gen 2. I checked my IATs on the way home and the temps now read within 1 degree or less of the outside air temp. With the KN the temps were usually 5-10 degrees more than outside temp. And got really far off in traffic. With the new custom box and intake the only air that can get in is from the front of the truck, behind the light and grill section. its well made and fits all the braces and curves perfect. I think it will be a big improvement over the KN at the track and especially when it gets cold. Im going to get some pics up soon so you can see the fit and finish. has anyone else seen results going from regular aftermarket intake to a custom box?

i have the same tubing as 02denali. i have had this done for almost a year and my temps stay about the same as the outside temps untill i start moving. then they go way down. i think i paid 30 bucks for the two 4" rubber hoses and 4" metal tube. then i ordered an afe filter kit for another 30 bucks. i enjoy it and couldn't see spending that much money for a K&N fipk when you can make one.

Looks good. What did you fabricate the airbox out of? Looks sweet. I would like to do the same type of thing.
