Default Custom 4" intake setup. Need advice.

I need a parts list if anyone has one. I will be doing this mod on Saturday and need all the help I can get. I have a 10' stick of 4" PVC and a 4" 90* elbow. Can I use any of this, if so, what else do I need. I also want to relocate my MAF to the TB. I have seen some pics, but not too sure on all the parts involved. Thanks for any help.

I got the 4" black flex hose from Pep Boys and the scoop is a 5"x10" a/c register from Home Depot. You have to trim the register to fit with the angle of the lower gray air damn. I painted it black to kind of hide it, stealth mode. I used a 4" hole saw on the air box bottom and a saber saw on the lower metal mounting plate. Works great!

One question, what about us 4x4 guys? Is this going to suck up water, mud and muck?

Not like I take the truck thru rivers or anything but it had me thinking tonight because it was raining really hard tonight and there were quite a few large puddles out and I had water going all over the place....and I don't to have to worry about this as much as I do the car.

Oxidizr: Can you tell me more about the Blitz filter please. I think the stainless steel looks sweet and the open top seems like a great idea, but paying that much for just a filter makes it hard. Have you heard anything about the Apexi 3" universal filter? Zero maintainence, lifetime warrenty, highest filtration, and open top too. Do you think this filter is big enough for a truck?
What type of fitting did you use to connect the T/B-MAF to the intake tube? 3" to 4", then a 4" 90* elbow? What about to the filter? Did you run 4" all the way to the filter?
Did the MAF connector reach to the T/B or did you have to rewire?
Thanks for any help

Don't get to carried away with 4" flex pipe. Smooth pipe will flow a lot more air than corrigated pipe, elbows also slow air flow. Pending on the size, Elbows can equal several feet of straight pipe in flow restriction.

hey 1LE,
i've asked this question before and from what i gather, the intake wont suck hard enough to take in any water or mud... but, who knows until someone becomes a guinea pig

The fellas over a pacific audio have been doing this mod for sometime now. I've had it on my truck since last summer and it's worked very well. No water doesn't make it up the tube, a smooth 4" aluminum tube that's attached to a 4x10 aluminum ac register bolted to the valance at the fog light hole. You could use the tow hook hole if you've got fog lights. My truck definately has been breathing better with this setup especially since I added the superchips tuning which added 500 more rpm. If you don't want to spend big bucks then this is the mod for you. I think it cost me a couple of hours and $20 in parts. Cutting through the metal plate under the stock box is the most time consuming thing about it <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" /> . I also painted the register black so it wouldn't stand out and placed a dark green screen over it to keep large items from entering.
