Thats where most people see quarter mile gains from in these trucks is in the shift points not the power gain from a programmer or tune atleast in a na truck. You also underestimate how big a difference lt headers and a good exhaust will make. I think you would get him slow98ta if not off the line then in the top end.

ok.. just raced buddies RCSB 4.8 tonight on my ECSB 5.3

He has ls1 fans, ported TB, fbody cam, shortie headers, volant, vette servos, trans go, and exhaust
I have volant and exhaust

both of us are die hard racers since we always battle each other in our ls1's..

we went from a dig, both of us spun.. I pulled out about 1/2th a truck off the line, pulled another half a truck right after that.. the rest of the 1/8th-1/4th was no pull.. so i had a truck on him

his raceweight is 4850? Mines 5180... both of us are 4x4's also

Dude, if you're in NM you're not going to run a 15 like everyone is saying here. Your DA's are just as bad as ours here. You guys are both probably well into the 16's in NM.

I say you should tell your friend to put up or shut up. Race him and end the dispute. I bet you get him from a roll, and he gets you from a stop. JMO.

I think the 5.3 ext. cab will have a slight edge.
