Default Curious: Diesel cam specs?

Just wondering here...

I think I've got basic cam specs pretty well nailed down. I started thinking about diesel motors, with their 3000rpm powerband. What kind of cam would produce power like that?

Real short duration, moderate to high lift (for stock), tighest LSA that won't bleed off lowend power?

...Or are cams pretty "normal" in those motors, and it's the compression that produces the funny rpm range?

I would think they would have a rediculously short duration (170-180) and moderate lift (.520 or so)

TTT... I have been wondering too. I'd think they would have a lot of lift as they are based on total airflow and fuel input (open manifold). Short duration makes sense.
