my current 5.3 has 230k on it and climbing, nothing is wrong with it but i figure ill go ahead and buy another motor for it since ive paid some old bills off. i was looking in SDP catalog and found a complete ready to go lq9 for under 4k . so im thinking about doing it. instead of buying a used one and going through it anyways, and i have no plans of going into the drivetrain of the new motor,just stock with bolt ons. thanks for you opinions.

 

I wouldnt pay 4k for it. I could build a motor for that lol
90% of the guys on here have bought used motors with out any problems.

If you want a good place to find one shoot me a PM. It will be used but will be jussst fine and for alot LESS then 4k.

 

id buy a nice 408 and use all of your existing accessories. should be about the same price.

 

Now your talking new tranny, rearend etc. that 4k just became 8 lol

 

I tried buying that same engine from SDPC last summer and was told GM didn't make it anymore. Ended up getting an LQ4 long block instead. Sounds like SDPC needs to update their catalog.
