I would look for a 5.3 if you dont have money to buy another 6.0. But maybe you will have good luck with the jb weld.

If you are going to weld it or jb weld it I would drill a small hole at each end of the crack to make sure it won't get bigger. Other than that I would give it a try and keep an eye on your oil level.

I would weld it, especially if you have access to a tig.

in opinion just go ahead with the welding...and in the mean time if it works out look for a shortblock or if you dont even want to spend that much,,definitely just look for a bare block...

He is a very good tig welder, would it still need a valley ground into the block or just go over the crack?

Welding in a valley, is almost like welding from the inside out. This makes the weld that much stronger.

I would say if he's as good of a welder as you say, and he's done this before, he'll already know about this.

block is tig welded up with nickel rod, must waiting to get it back together an start having done fun . Thanks for all the input an advice guys I appreciate it alot .

Congrats, If I'd known you had access to a tig then I'd said go that way to begin with. Good luck you have nothing to worry about now.
