Default Coolant guage temperature. What is your temp. range?

Hook up my water temperature guage and the max it read was 180-185 F

I have a crankshaft fan so it runs all the time.

Does it ever get any hotter than this? This was idling/driving. I have the sender in the passenger head. Much easier than under the starter. Especially on the truck.

I know the guage is good cause I tested it in my car since I have that all hooked up already.

I used to see temps between 195*-197* on my AutoXray scan tool, with the factory stat and fan clutch. On a real hot day, after beating the **** out of it, temps would climb as high as 203*, but come back down around 195 pretty quickly...I thought that the GM factory stat was a 195*

When I swapped in a 180* stat, my temps would range between 188*ish and up to about 195-197*ish...still utilizing the factory fan clutch.

Now with my 05 e-fans, my temps average around 175*ish (fans come on at 180* and off at 173*...have them set to come on both at low speed when turn on temp is reached)

Don't know. Just figure my Fbody swings from 180-190 cruising @ a good speed to 210-220 idling/city driving/stuck in traffic. Think that the Fbody T stat is 195 and the fans don't come on till 220 or so.

Thanks. Then that makes sense.
