Default Coolant Cross Over

Is it nessecary to have the crossover from head to head? Or can I put the blockoffs on the front and rear of the heads? Ive been searching and searching and cant find the answer. Also, anyone have the part number for the block offs? or so they come complete in the coolant crossover kit?

Why would you want to block them off? They are there for a reason.
