Default Converter size ???? Please help.

I just made up my mind on what converter I want. So I called FLP(a sponser here) and was about to place my order for a Vig 3200. Well it turns out they strongly recomment for me not to go with a 9.5" if it's going in a truck because of the extra weight. They recommend me a 10.5 wish cost $875 instead of the 9.5 for $675.
I don't know what to think of this now and I am very confused now. Would some please lead me in the right direction.

BTW, I have a friend who has a 9.5 in his truck and it's working flawless.

I had a 9.5 in mine.. parents loaded my truck down with concrete and wood and it overheated and smoked the tranny.. If you go with a 9.5 i wouldnt recommend towing anything.. They are definetely cheaper but you dont get the towing capacity like you would with a 10.5... probably the reason the yank tt3000 is so popular.. I miss by 3000 though.. my truck is back to being a pig again.. one day ill get everything put back together..

This is exactly what I was thining. They prably think I will using my truck as a "Truck" for towing and hauling heavy stuff. I have no intentions in towing with my truck. Any more comments/opinions on this?

if you don't plan on towing then go for it. as long as you feel comfortable with the decision.

I have a 9.5" tci3000 in my truck it works great. I got a 40000gcvw tranny cooler(yes its big) and an escalade cluster. My tranny sits at 155 degrees all day long. When Im pounding on it it goes up to about 185 these transmissions stock regularly runat 200 degrees so its still running cooler when Im pounding on it. Since you arent going to be towing dont worry about converter size. The one that you want will be fine I would recommend getting a big tranny cooler and a gauge to watch tranny temps.

My tranny cooler
Its worth the money its twice the size of a B&M.

I would have no objections to using a 9.5" converter in a truck. If it's for your reg cab and you arent planning on towing, I dont think you will have any issues with it.

Here is a reply I got from John @ Fuddle:

Let me begin by warning you that our converters use a 245mm design. That design is considerably smaller than stock and is NOT recommended for towing much if at all. The best design for towing is the 278 and while we currently are working on a line of 278 converters, it is not ready for the market yet. That is why I asked before; I don't like to recommend truck converters until I know that towing is not the intention.
You can probably make this out, but as long as there is no towing involved, using the smaller designs should not cause any problems.
