Default Which converter?

Well I just got my built 60e up and running again good for the time being. I have a tci 3000 stall and love how it drives with it but I cant tow anything. I have a huge tranny cooler(twice the size of the b&m's) and it still heats up pulling a 18 foot trailer with a vette on it. I have heard the yank truck thrusters are good but has anyone had any personal experience with them. I want a 3000ish something. Im looking for a brand that will stall close to 3000 and be able to tow around 7000 pounds. I dont want a tb stall.

Thanks, Cody

From what I ve read I think you will be happy with the Yank. Thats what I plan on getting except in the TT2600.

I just put in a Vigilante when I had my trans rebuilt. The first 3000 miles were towing a 4000lb trailer to Albuquerque and back. I was impressed with the lockup clutch. I believe there are 3 plates. Compared to the stock converter, it felt like a new gear! It was definitely a little pricy but it appears to be machined from billet and hopefully will be the last stall in my truck. I believe mine is stalled at 2400 but you can get them higher still with good towing capacity. I don't know much about torque converters but I can tell you it is a HUGE improvement over stock.

Yes it is I love my tci just cant tow with it. If I wasnt going to tow anything I would keep it. When the motor swap happens at the end of the summer I will switch converters too I really dont feel like pulling the tranny and transfer case for a fourth time. Anybody else had any experience with the vigs and towing?

I would go with either the Vig or Yank TTseries. The one I have is good for towing too, but would be smaller than you want.

I have the yank 2400 12",I really like it i think its maxed for towing , I tow a lot and often. We went with a yank 2600 in my buddys H&C yukon Denali. He towed a car on a feather light car trailer 300 miles and the fluid was dark. The trans temp never showed over 200.We serviced it and he's not since towed with it and the fluid is cherry.

Dark fluid isnt good did he have a cooler on it. Gonzo 6.0 Is your converter a truck thruster or some other line. SeirraCrew does hughes make a towing converter. Yeah when you upgrade to a 3000 you will wonder why you never went with it in the first place. With your latest mods you should be in the 13's with those slicks too bad I wont be out there HRP to see it. Im going to be in alabama for about the next three months so ill be absent from all the houston area activities.

Cody, yeah, I know Hughes makes a towing converter, but I wanna say that they are diesel converters. But the one that I've got is a truck specific converter, that allows for towing. Like I said though, its a smaller one. I'm not sure that hughes makes a truck specific converter over the 2500 rpm.

It will probably be a while before I upgrade to a larger verter. I wanna see if I can get 13's without it first and then if I still feel the need for faster, then take it up a notch. lol.

The denali comes with a factory cooler. Most converter builders lower the stall for a RV or towing converter.

Curtis you know you are just going to want to go faster. I say by the end of the year you are in the 12's sprayin. Brandon is going to get you hooked on it. Its like the old saying goes nitrous is like a hot girl with an std you know you wanna hit it but are afraid of the consequences. Sounds like Ill probably have to drop down to a 2600 or so to be able to tow still but damn a 3000 is so much fun.
